Stronger Visuals Build Credibility
Through Greater Impact
Develop a visual solution as unique as your science.
I transform complex ideas into compelling, precise, and impactful visuals that effectively convey your message. My goal is to provide you with a final product that is both scientifically accurate and visually engaging—one that you feel confident and comfortable using to share your work.

About Me
By transforming complex information into compelling visuals, I help teams and individuals increase visibility, attract funding, and communicate breakthroughs more effectively to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
I can:
- Transform complex science into visuals that drive understanding and engagement
- Optimize your visuals for every channel and maximize your investment
- Ensure your visualization meets the requirements for submission in the scientific journal/s you plan to submit
- Accelerate your project through scientifically informed collaboration
My Freelancing Process
What to expect when starting a project
01.
Preliminary Meeting
We will meet to discuss your project needs and timeline and confirm that I am qualified for your project. Contract and estimate can be provided following the meeting if there are no outstanding questions on the scope of the project.
02.
Contract, Estimate & Licensing Discussion
Based on preliminary meeting if you decide to proceed to step 2 you will be provided with a draft estimate, contract and licensing agreement. Some clients have their own contract and license which I am happy to discuss.
03.
Preliminary Draft
Once we sign the contract, I will begin on a preliminary draft of the project. The timeline and medium of the draft will vary depending on the type of project. But can range in scope from a pencil sketch to a storyboard.
04.
Client Feedback & Revisions
Two rounds of feedback and revisions will be included in your estimate. Additional changes outside the scope of the initial project can be added for an additional cost.
05.
Final Product Delivery
Once the revisions are finalized, I will deliver the final product and associated files based on what we agreed to in the contract. I will then ask you to double check the final product and sign a project completion form or sign off on the project by email.
06.
Project Sign Off
The project sign off helps me confirm that you are happy with the project and that the work has come to an end. Once you sign the project completion form, any further work will have to be negotiated under a new contract or an addendum to the original.
Beauty in Action
“Koahana happily recommends Emily for scientific illustrations. She thoughtfully works to understand the scientific story and how the work will be used to provide a quality and adaptable product.”
Melanie Thompson, Founder of Koahana, Medical Communications Agency
“Emily Adams is a very talented medical illustrator (amongst other graphic skills) that I’ve had the pleasure of working with on a couple of projects. She is wonderful to work with, sets realistic expectations, listens to her clients and delivers very professional work.“
Lisa Tuomi, Head of IR, PR, & Medical Communications at Iolyx Pharmaceutical Company
“We were selected as one of eight startups in a competitive pitch competition. Emily’s revamp of our deck moved us into another league. Our message was heard more clearly because it stood above the visual chatter of the other participants.”
Mark Connell, Co-founder and President of SLBST
