As a part of New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and New Mexico Arts coloring book series I created a depiction of a sponge reef from the Middle Permian period to the Unearth New Mexico Coloring Book Spread and includes the extinct shark with an anvil like formation on its back. I started off by reading about a variety of marine species and going back and forth with a paleontologist to work on getting the species positioned at the right depth in the reef.
